May 2014

April 23rd 2013 my mother deceased, mrs. Jansje Koopman-Keen, at the respectable age of 92. I must get used to a live without her. Not just because she was my mother, but also because she was a constant inspiration to think about lots of things … how do you approach life, what do you do in life and how do you associate with others. Time must help me to deal with this great loss.

We are very grateful for the time she enriched our life.

I like to take the opportunity to thank all those people that showed compassion in the recent period.

One of these persons is Günter Prange, who showed his respect in his own way by showing his founding breeder. The father of ‘Ringlose’ that is, a cockbird of 20 years old and still very vital. He filled eggs at the age of 12/13 years old and always remained in good condition. His most famous son is ‘Ringlose’, a legend by life and father/grandfather to at least 5 different 1. Nat. acebirds of Germany.

Father of ‘Ringlose’ was ringed NL-1994-2227959 who is a son to ‘Beatrixdoffer’ NL-1988-2763998 when paired to ‘Sultana’ NL-1992-2049905 (from ‘De Eric’ x ‘Wonder duivin 056’).

This visit of an old friend reminded me of the time my father took me to visit fanciers … a time that lies many years behind us. The picture (above) shows my father in the prime of life with from left to right: Koos Tjeerdsma, Raymond Cobut, Louis van Loon and my father himself. This picture must have been made in the early Eighties.

Our pigeons in Ermerveen are doing great. Luckily we were spared of misery and the colony is very well trained with the important races coming up.

In approx. two weeks I will inform you more about my best racers of the 2013 season, like ‘Martine’, ‘Adora’, ‘Bright Blue’, ‘Baccarat’, ‘Bella Donna’, ‘Jochen’ etc.
